RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre

RAF Hornchurch played a major role in the defence of London during the Second World War, as a frontline Battle of Britain Sector station and home to Spitfire squadrons. The RAF Hornchurch Heritage Centre, owned by the Hornchurch Aerodrome Historical Trust and run by volunteers, opened in September 2021 in two 1930s former airfield buildings. It traces the station's story from its First World War origins as Suttons Farm, through the Battle of Britain, to its post-war years and closure in 1962.
