The Battle of Britain Bunker

An original Grade I listed underground bunker that housed RAF Fighter Command’s No. 11 Group Operations Room throughout the Second World War. It was from this site that RAF fighter squadrons were coordinated across London and the South East, playing a crucial role during the Battle of Britain.

The bunker consists of a series of rooms on two levels, 60ft (18m) underground, and contains a mixture of historic and reconstructed elements, including the original plotting map. The Visitor Centre above ground traces the site's history through the Battle of Britain and beyond, including its role in operations such as Dieppe and D-Day.
